I have extensive consulting and software engineering experience serving clients in a variety of roles and responsibilities. My primary area of expertise is designing and building solutions on Microsoft Azure as well as helping organizations develop strategies to adopt cloud computing and utilize artificial intelligence. I also spend a lot of time helping others learn about cloud computing through mentoring and customized training paths.
Specialties: Microsoft Azure, Azure AI Services, Web API, Azure DevOps, C#, PowerShell, .NET
July 2024
Leveraging Azure Open AI ChatGPT-4o models, Azure Document Intelligence service, Cosmos DB, Function Apps and Azure Blob Storage, I built an event-based serverless application to ingest unstructured medical documents in PDF format and generate a formatted text summary of medical encounters, treatments, allergies and medications. The application generated the patient summary document in JSON format which was then consumed by an Angular web app for easy review by medical professionals. Through the orchestration of Azure AI Services, the application reduces administrative burden of collecting and processing patient medical histories and consolidates fragmented data streams into a human consumable format leaving more time for medical staff to attend to patient care.
March 2016
Created a set of web services to integrate MedVirginia Health Information Exchange transactions with Epic and Cerner electronic medical record systems.
September 2014
Designed and built the MedVirginia Health Information Exchange (HIE) to expedite the flow of clinical data between eHealth Exchange members and partner organizations.
June 2014
Created a web service to receive and route health reports to the proper interface hosted at the Virginia Department of Health to meet Meaningful Use requirements for public health. The MedVirginia Public Health Reporting interface supports data submissions for immunizations to the Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS), syndromic surveillance, and electronic lab reporting (ELR).
